I used to write my favorite quotes on Post It’s and hang them up on my bulletin board. This is great, but it starts to get cluttered after a while. I used stuff I found around the house to make this very clean and modern wall art reminding me everyday: “The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why”.
Here’s what you will need: (I used a frame with an 8 x 10 opening)
Picture frame with mat
printout of your favorite quote on a sheet of cardstock. I matched up the text color with fabric color. Do what you like. Like what you do.
Piece of fabric. For a large frame you’ll need about 1/2 yard, depending on the size of the mat.
First lay out the fabric, pattern side down. Iron it if there are any wrinkles. Lay your matboard on top of the fabric, leaving at least 1- 1 1/2 ” around all sides. Trace the outline of the mat onto the “wrong” side of your fabric. Add 1 ” around in the middle and around the outer edge.
Cut out the square in the middle.
Cut diagonally towards the corners.
Fold all edges over the mat board and add a healthy serving of glue.
Flip it over. Place the “artwork quote” in the center of the fabric mat and insert into your frame.
